ABSTRACT

Almost every aspects of human life had been badly impacted by the COVID19 pandemic. As a result, scientists from all disciplines have embarked on numerous scientific studies in the hopes of reversing the detrimental effects. Researchers in the field of library and information sciences are also taking a strong stance in response to global problem. Hundreds of studies centred on library services during COVID-19 have been published over the course of two years (2020 and 2021). This study reports the findings of bibliometric analysis of published literature on library services during COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, it also aimed to identify the major themes of published literature on library services during COVID-19 pandemic. Most cited countries, institutions, journals, authors and papers are highlighted. The main themes identified include virtual reference services; remote access to e-resources; free and expanded access; open access resources; resources related to COVID-19; and easing of penalty rules. Technology adoption, with a focus on social media and video conferencing, as well as library problems, have been identified as important research topics. The study came to a conclusion on how libraries and librarians can survive during and after the COVID 19 era.
